Hyperlink to RSA SecurID Cloud Authentication Service IdP URL embedded in Word Doc does not work

Issue
Clicking on a link to an SSO application's IdP URL embedded in a Word document will result in landing on the Identity Router's application portal page that lists all available SSO applications. 
Expected behavior is that browser would get to the SSO application as if user had clicked its application portal icon (after authenticating as needed).
 
Cause
Word will redirect through its built-in browser and communicate a different URL than desired to the default system browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.)
Resolution
Embedding an IdP URL in a Word Document is not supported.
Workaround
Embedding a target application SP URL may generate the desired behavior. 
Notes
Directly browsing to or embedding an SSO application's IdP URL in a PDF or other document type works as expected.
