CVE-2026-111497
Severity
Critical

Summary

RSA is aware of CVE-2026-111497 (also known as HTTP2Shell, Broccoli2Shell, Brotli2Shell, and Node2Shell), a buffer overflow in the Google Brotli decoder library (versions 1.0.3 through 1.0.9, 1.1.0, and 1.2.0). A specially crafted Brotli-compressed stream triggers an invalid block switch that the streaming decoder treats as a request for more input. The decoder keeps appending bytes to an eight-byte internal buffer and writes beyond its bounds, corrupting adjacent memory. Depending on the application, this can crash the process, expose memory contents, or enable remote code execution.

RSA has assessed its product portfolio. RSA Authentication Manager and RSA Governance & Lifecycle are potentially affected at low risk, through a third-party SUSE Linux component. RSA's own code and the Oracle components are not impacted. RSA will include product updates to the Brotli library in our next planned patch cycles.

    Remediation

    ProductFixStatus
RSA Authentication ManagerPatch incorporating the SUSE fix for the Brotli libraryPending SUSE release. RSA will publish the patch when the release is available.
RSA Governance & Lifecycle (Cloud and On-Premises)Patch incorporating the SUSE fix for the Brotli libraryPending SUSE release. RSA will publish the patch when the release is available.
RSA Identity RouterPatch incorporating the SUSE fix for the Brotli library

The vulnerable decoder libraries are present on the appliance. However, there is no reachable code path through which they can be invoked. RSA will provide an update once patches are available from SUSE.

Apply the RSA patch as soon as it is released. No action is required for the other RSA products.

Note: RSA is continuing to review this vulnerability and will update this advisory as more information becomes available.
