Is is possible to format and reuse nCipher Smart Cards?

Resolution

If smart card is an Admin card from a previous security world, it can be reformatted for use again. If smart card is an Operator Card, the card cannot be reformatted for use again. When smart cards are created as an OCS card, the smart chip gets locked with security world data to ensure no one can access the token protecting the keys.

To reformat old Admin cards, use the tools within the /nfast/bin directory:

For FIPS 2 security worlds:

slotinfo 1 0 -FORMAT

For FIPS 3 security worlds:

createocs -F 0 -m 1 -s 0 -e
