RSA SecurID Software Token
|
There are two methods based on different versions of software: Firstly, verify the RSA SecurID Authenticator SID800 (SID token) is recognized by Microsoft Windows operating system.
IMPORTANT NOTE
The SID800 token uses the Microsoft CCID Driver to be recognized by Windows. http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/input/smartcard/USB_CCID.mspx
To download, use either Microsoft update or this for Microsoft driver update for USB Smart Card reader: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=ccid
** RAC/Middleware 3.x has a Microsoft software requirement of the Microsoft Base Smart Card Cryptographic Service Provider (KB909520). This needs to be installed prior to the installation of RAC/Middleware 3.x
Method 1
1) Install the RSA Authentication Client 3.5 (RAC), locate the RSA Security Center in the Windows Control Panel and verify you can view the token being read from the connected SID800.
2) Install the RSA SecurID Software Token (previously known as SoftID) version 4.1 software that comes with the RSA Authentication Client 3.5 software. This will allow SecurID ready applications to acquire the tokencode from SID800 token and prompt the end user for the PIN instead of a PASSCODE (PASSCODE=PIN+Tokencode).
3) Verify the RSA SecurID Software Token reads the token code from the SID800 token. Method 2
1) Install the RSA Smart Card Middleware 3.5 software and ensure during installation you select the install option ?RSA SecurID Token for Windows Desktop?.
NOTE: RSA Smart Card Middleware 3.5 will install Smart Card Middleware 3.5 software, SecurID Token 4.1 for Windows Desktop software and a Hardware Authenticator Plug-in.
2) Reboot the Windows system after the RSA Smart Card Middleware 3.5 installation.
3) Verify the RSA SecurID Software Token reads the token code from the SID800 token. You may need to configure RSA SecurID Software Token to use hardware (SID800 token).
SecurID ready 3rd party applications
Now any SecurID ready 3rd party application can be configured to prompt the end user for the PIN and acquire the token code from the SID800 token.
Please refer to implementation guides located at URL http://www.rsa.com/rsasecured/ for 3rd party applications RSA has certified for RSA SecurID.
