Does proxy need to be configured with RVM to use IdenTrust?

In new PKI Infrastructure we are setting up 6 PROD VMs and these are expected to talk with IdentTrust through firewall directly, rather than Proxy-firewall as how it is currently set up in existing PKI.

The question is; our VM build document says that we need to run below step to configure proxy within the VM to communicate with IdenTrust. So when we use firewall instead of proxy how this step can be replaced ? Whether it can be ignored and should we use some other way ?

If the machines are configured to talk to IdenTrust directly through firewall, RVM will talk to IdentTust through firewall directly without a proxy.

For this case, proxy need not be configured for RVM.
