The January and March 2020 Appliance Updaters fail and prevent the Database from starting up in RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle

Issue

The Oracle 12C January and March 2020 RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle  Appliance Updaters fail and after the failure, the database cannot be started.

The rsaimg_updater_Oracle_12C.log file (/var/log/rsaimg_updater_Oracle_12C.log) contains the following messages:
Cannot connect to the database.   The watchdog will start the server when it can connect to the database.

Cause

This is a known issue reported in engineering tickets ACM-104176 and ACM-103814.
 

Resolution

This issue is resolved in the May 2020 Appliance Updater for RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle.
 

Workaround

Login as the oracle user and execute the following commands:
acm startoracle (this will fail)
cd /u01/app/12.1.0/grid/bin/
./clscfg -localpatch
acm startoracle
