Summary

Microsoft is restricting all Azure GCC tenants from accessing their Conditional Access framework.

Details

Conditional Access is Microsoft’s method of allowing step-up using third-party vendors, such as RSA, for the Microsoft access use cases. Microsoft is discontinuing Custom Controls in favor of a replacement framework called External Auth Methods (EAM). Microsoft expects EAM to be made available to Azure GCC tenants when it goes live.

RSA is working closely with Microsoft as part of the EAM Private Preview Program. This ensures that when EAM goes live, all customers who have access to EAM can use it to add RSA MFA authentication to their Microsoft access use cases. RSA does not have a confirmed timeline as to when EAM will be made available to Azure GCC tenants, nor do we have information on the ability of Azure GCC tenant customers to participate in any EAM Private Preview Programs.

Customers should contact their Microsoft representative for any additional information on EAM and the availability of EAM to GCC tenants.
