Issue

When running the RSA SecurID Token Record Decryption Utility that comes with a token order, the administrator points to the decryption code file (called DecryptCodes_ ###.zip where ### is a long GUID) and provides the password.

When clicking Next >, the following error displays:

No decryption code were found in the zip file.

Cause

Reasons for this message are either:

  • The file is corrupt or
  • The file is 0 byte in size.

One very likely cause of a 0 byte file is a firewall or other security device refusing to download an encrypted file.  This can be verified by successfully downloading the Decrypt Code Test File from https://dlc.rsasecurity.com:

If this file also downloads as 0 bytes, then your network security is blocking the download.

Resolution

To correct the issue,

  1. First, take whatever steps are necessary to download the DecryptCodes_Test_File.zip file.  This may require using an entirely different network.  A successful download it should look something like this:

  1. Once you have downloaded the test file, contact the Customer Asset Management team (CAM) to get your Token Pack ID/Confirmation Number restored.  Full instructions for that process can be found here:  https://community.rsa.com/s/article/How-to-open-a-case-with-Customer-Asset-Management-CAM-team-for-Authentication-Manager-token-media-replacement-or-license-replacement
  2. Once the restoration is complete, you should now be able to download your actual Decryption Key using the same method that worked for the DecryptCodes_Test_File.zip file.
