Summary:
RSA announces the upcoming release of the RSA SecurID® Software Token 2.1 for Android in mid-June, 2016. The RSA SecurID Software Token app transforms your Android device into an RSA SecurID authentication device.
Platforms:
Android devices running Android OS version 4.1 or later with RSA Authentication Manager 8.1 or later.
Description:
RSA SecurID Software Token for Android provides a one-time password (OTP) software token app that can be installed on Android devices. The app is available at no cost through Google Play.
Below is a summary of what is new in the upcoming release:
· In the RSA SecurID app, a small dial shows how much time remains for the current one-time passcode or tokencode. The dial changes color when the passcode or tokencode is about to change. This feature helps to prevent users from accidentally entering numbers from two different passcodes or tokencodes.
· The RSA SecurID app supports Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 for dynamic seed provisioning (CT-KIP). Please see the Release Notes and product documentation on RSA SecurCare Online (SCOL) for further details on Android OS and Authentication Manager server requirements for TLS 1.2 support.
· Fixed compatibility issues with Android OS version 6.0.
· RSA SecurID Software token 2.1 for Android uses RSA BSAFE® Crypto-J (Jsafe) SecureRandom for random number generation. This enhances the security of the app with a stronger random number generator than the one provided by the Android Operating System.
Obtaining RSA SecurID Software Token for Android:
The application is available at no cost through Google Play. To access the application for download, access Google Play on the device and type “RSA SecurID” in the search field. RSA partners interested in integrating RSA SecurID software token support into their own Android app can also make use of the RSA SecurID SDK 2.1 for Android, available through the RSA Ready Partner Program. Early access to the app will not be made available to customers.
