Issue
How to configure Tomcat services
After installing Apache Tomcat on the Windows OS, the Tomcat application is not an available entry within the Windows services panel
Cause
During the installation process, if the default selections are chosen, the application is not installed with an associated entry within the Windows services panel
Resolution
When downloading the Apache Tomcat software from http://jakarta.apache.org/site/binindex.cgi, you have a choice of downloading the .EXE, .ZIP, or .TAR.GZ versions of the software. Select the .EXE version to download and, once completed, double click the .EXE file to launch the installation wizard. Ensure that during the installation process you choose to install the entire Tomcat application, or at least select the option to install the Windows service for Tomcat which will configure an entry for Tomcat in the Windows services panel.
