Here is a "sample" configuration on how to setup Envision to warn of impending Disk Usage Thresholds. Use this template to configure appropriate level in your enVision environment.
a. Setting up the built-in NIC_View 75% threshold view.
i. The threshold alert is Message ID 100009. Although you cannot edit NIC_View to determine the alerts built-in, find the particular alert using this method:
1. Login to the WebUI > Overview Tab > Messages > Manage Messages
a. Attribute = Device/Type
b. Comparison = IN
c. Criteria = NIC System
d. Press Add to add another Attribute
e. 2nd Attribute = Event/Message text
f. 2nd Comparison = REGEX (this means check for any instance of the criteria?without using case sensitivity
g. 2nd Criteria = Disk
h. Apply
b. Define the Output Action
ii. Looking at the Message Text, one can determine that Message ID 100009 is the correct alert?for setting up our Threshold Alert. Now set up the Output Action for the Alert.
1. In the WebUI > Alerts Tab > Alert Configuration > Output Actions > Manage Output Actions (Before the actual alert is configured, define the output action. In this example, email.)
a. Add
b. Action Name = <Chosen Action Name>
c. Action Type = SMTP (This will change the UI slightly to accommodate input of the SMTP information:)
i. To 1: Your email address
ii. To 2-5: Used for other address?
iii. From: <Envision ASrv Host>
iv. Server: The IP Address of the SNMP server in your environment. NOTE: Envision does not supply SNMP services by default.
v. Subject: <Email subject line>
vi. Body: <Your email message>
vii. Test: To send a ?test? email to your SNMP server and then to the designated address?.
viii. Apply to keep the output action.
c. Define the Alert
iii. Now setup the Alert itself
1. WebUI > Alerts Tab > Alert Configuration > Views > Manage Views
a. Add
b. View Name: <Whatever you decide>
c. Next
d. Select the Device you?re setting the Alert for
i. Name: <your site>
ii. Device Type: NIC System
iii. OK
e. Select this Device
i. Next
f. Under Customize Alert Configuration
i. Attribute = Event / NIC message ID
ii. Comparison = IN
iii. Criteria = 100009
iv. Apply
v. Select the one event that comes up
1. OK
vi. Select Output Actions
1. Select the Output Action you had defined earlier.
2. Apply
