General problems with Scheduler in RSA Governance & Lifecycle

This is a known issue in the following versions.

  • SecurID Governance & Lifecycle 7.5.2 
  • RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle 7.5.0 
  • RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle 7.2.1 
Issue

This issue may manifest itself as a failure of any item that is controlled by the scheduler to run at the scheduled time.

Including but not limited to the following:

  • Review Escalation Workflow
  • GATHER_DATABASE_STATISTICS
  • PurgeExpiredTempPasswords
  • Data Purging
Cause
This issue can be difficult to troubleshoot as the cause of the issue is a long running query for a scheduled task but the affect is that it prevents another arbitrary task from returning the completed task status back to the scheduler.  Note that the long running task may complete without errors, but other tasks may be affected. 
Resolution
This is resolved in the following versions where a reentrant lock is used on the scheduler to prevent deadlocks.

Workaround
There are no work around to this issue.  Customers who have demonstrated that they are susceptible to this issue should patch to a version where this is resolved. 
Notes
A thread dump may show hung threads related to scheduled items.
